What is Vivo Animation School?

Vivo Animation School is an online character animation school, specialized in the animation of 3d characters. Our goal is a thorough and careful training that allows students to express their creativity and imagination and prepares them for a future career as professional animators in the field of cinema, TV series or advertising.

Who is this course for?

The courses are for people of all ages, to all those who want to learn or deepen the art of character animation. The basic courses are created for beginners and do not require any previous training, while those who already have experience can apply for the more advanced specialization courses.

How long do the courses last?

Each course lasts 11 weeks. The whole program is made of 8 courses for an overall duration of the entire scholastic course of two years. You can choose to follow the courses that most interest you.

How do live sessions work?

There are 2 online live classes per week. The student can find the link of the Zoom session on the calendar.

During the class the instructor will go over the weekly topics together with the students, sharing content through slides and support videos.

The instructor will then introduce the exercise of that week. To receive a review of their work, students will share their animation on Syncsketch. Through this tool the instructor will be able to provide feedback, observing the animation frame by frame and drawing corrections on the video.

Students are encouraged to attend and participate to their reviews. All lessons will be also recorded and, together with the notes on Syncsketch, will be made available to students immediately after the lessons so that they can review them at any time.

What ia the duration of the live session?

The duration of the meetings can vary from 90 to 180 minutes, depending on the number of students in the class the topic covered.

What tools do I have available outside class hours?

The instructors will provide students with slides and video demo to support the execusion of the exercise, so that they never feel alone. In this way, instructors, without taking time from the live lessons, will be able to show their workflow to students.

In addition to this, all students of the school have access to a library of video tutorials that respond to the most common needs.

For all software related issues, Vivo Animation School has created a 24/7 technical support chat shared with all students and instructors. Someone will always be there to help you.

In addition, a class chat will allow you to always be in contact with your classmates, if you want to exchange ideas, opinions and advice.

How many hours, in addition to the lessons, do I have to dedicate to school?

You can partecipate in our classes even if you work or study full time. Live sessions are outside business hours. If you are unable to partecipate in a class all live sessions are recorded and made available to you.

Outside of class hours, you are free to organize your work at home as you like.

In any case, plan to devote about 20 hours per week to carrying out the exercises. Every extra hour you dedicate to practice will pay off!

How many students are in a class?

The number of students in the classes of Vivo Animation School is generally small and does not exceed 8 people. This is to allow instructors to dedicate as much time as possible to their students.

Can I take individual lessons?

No, we do not hold individual courses because we believe that interaction with other students is fundamental in the learning process, and that observing the work of others can also give our students more ideas than an individual lesson. However, those who need one or more reviews of their personal work by our teachers can take advantage of the shot review and live shot review services.

When can I sign up?

Registration is open all year round. Look for the the quarter in which you want to follow the course of your interest and contact us.

You have time to register up to 30 days before the start of the course of your choice.

Before accepting new students, Vivo Animation School requires an online meeting, both to get to know each other directly and to help you choose the course that best suits your needs.

Can I enroll in just one course?

Yes, you can take a single course.

I already have experience as an animator. Can I start from an advanced course?

Sure thing! Write to us and send us your showreel indicating the course of your interest. The educational board will assess your level and organize an online Zoom sesstion where we can meet and confirm your eligibility to a certain course or suggest another one.

Are the Pro courses different from the others?

Yes, the Pro courses are dedicated to those who have already work experience in the world of animation, or to those who already have an advanced level of training.

While the other courses are based more on theoretical lessons and related exercises, the Pro courses want to reproduce the same dynamics that occur within an animation studio. Here the student will have the opportunity to apply all the principles learned in the previous courses togther with more content based on the students review.

The student will take on the role of character animator in all respects, and our professional instructors (the student will have the opportunity to deal with more than one teacher) will be their supervisors, who will guide them in the creation of a shot. The student will have to propose their own ideas, and through continuous and detailed revisions will work to create a quality animation shot, finished in detail, which can be used as part of their animation reel.

What tools do I need?
