Vivo Animation School

Your character animation school.

Online, in English, in classes of two to five students. Taught by animators who are working today on international productions — feature films, animated series, VFX and advertising.

The method

Two to five students per class.

Your instructor follows each person's work: twenty to thirty minutes of individual review on every assignment. The class hours grow with the class — three hours a week with two students, six with five — so the time given to each student never changes. That is why the classes stay small.

Who teaches

More than twenty instructors, all working animators.

They teach what they do every day: feature films, animated series, VFX and advertising. It is not an archive CV — it is this week's work, brought into class along with the methods and the workflow of large productions.

The path

3D character animation in Autodesk Maya.

Maya is the industry standard for 3D character animation: it is the software you will use in the studios, and it is the one you learn here, with the licence included in every course.

8 courses in the 3D track

Six courses from the basics of movement to advanced acting, and two Pro courses devoted to a single showreel shot.

6 main courses, taken in order

Principles of Animation, Body Locomotion, Body Action, Pantomime, Facial Acting, Advanced Acting: each one builds on the one before.

22 sessions over 11 weeks, between classes and reviews.
Beginners welcome: the first course asks for no experience.

Already have some experience? We look at your level and you start from the course that fits. Already working as an animator? The advanced and Pro courses let you go deeper on one thing and specialise.

Our own tools

We built the tools we needed in order to teach better.

Vivo Meet, Vivo Frame Studio and our rigs were made inside the school, designed around how classes, assignments and reviews actually work. There is no third-party tool between you and your instructor.

Vivo Meet

Our own platform for live classes, built around what instructors and students need during a lesson.

Vivo Frame Studio

You upload your assignment and the instructor draws straight onto your shot, annotating and correcting it during the review.

Original rigs

Digital characters developed in-house for Vivo, growing in complexity as you move through the path.

Classes, recordings, assignments and corrections all stay in the same place: you can go back over a review as many times as you need.

Maya licence included · certificate of attendance

A Maya licence and an animBot licence are included for the whole length of the course. At the end of each course you receive a certificate of attendance issued by Autodesk.

Community

Online, but not on your own.

A Discord server with instructors, students and alumni, plus Showtime and Vivo Talk every term. When you finish a course you keep your access to Discord, to the events and to the materials — and you can still book single reviews at the rate reserved for people who have studied with us.

Before you enrol

Want to meet us first?

Before every enrolment we have a one-to-one call online with one of the founders: no commitment, just to understand where you are starting from and which course makes sense for you.
